Sandi Wysock

Artist Statement

Sandi Wysock’s is a self trained fiber artist whose work has been recognized for its excellence. She uses wool, silk and other fibers as brush strokes applied over a base layer of wool. The resulting fibers are then fused together using the ancient art of wet felting. Hot water is applied to the fibers to open the scales on the wool and friction causes them to fuse together. Embroidery, free motion stitching or dry felting may be added to the surface to add find details. The result is a unique one of a kind wool painting that resembles pastels but with more texture.

Sandi’s inspiration comes from photos that she takes during her travels. Her goal is to capture the spirit, the beauty and the light that she sees in nature. Because the felting process transforms her creations, there is always an element of serendipity and a fluidity that makes her art unique and inspires her to continue to explore this medium.
