Lynda Wallis
Artist Bio
Wallis has identified as an artist since the age of two.
Wallis was accepted at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago straight out of high school. While at SAIC, Wallis studied painting, drawing, and discovered her deep love of art history.
Her love of learning caused Wallis to acquire an extended education spanning several states and colleges. She graduated from Viterbo, a small Catholic college, surrounded by the natural beauty of LaCrosse, WI.
When Wallis’s son was 18 months old her business, Freelance Illustrations was born. Knowing the opportunity to begin her business as a self-employed freelance artist was a gift from the universe, she embraced it and never looked back. Wallis has been designing, illustrating, writing, and producing signs for nature preserves for decades. Her work can be found globally.
Wallis moved to Beloit in search of relief from the ever growing tax burdens of living in Illinois. Ten months later COVID shut the world down. For the first time in decades Wallis had time to explore where her art wanted to take her vs. creating art for hire for clients. Joyful creativity has not let up.
In the past few years Wallis’s work has been seen in many prestigious shows and galleries throughout the midwest. Her work has received numerous awards.
