Kathleen Waterloo

Artist Statement

My works are architectural fantasies which attempt to record the urban/urbane/mundane observances seen on a daily basis. Utilizing space planning methods, and with a reductive approach towards simplicity, an elevation, aerial view, or structure is transformed into its final composition. Previous trained in interior architechture, lines are a recurring theme.

Recent and past inspirations have been interstate exit signs, racetrack maps, midwest aerial landscapes, Wall Street Journal graphs, international airport floor plans, geologic fault lines, rodeo bucking chutes, "mapquest" routes, Chicago streets, and archtiectural elements in many forms.
