Artist Statement
My mezzotints are an examination of light and dark using primarily the still life as a vehicle to study
how glass and simple objects from nature can create mystery and visual poetry by manipulating the
shadows and reflections of the objects and their surroundings. I record the changes that occur with that
manipulation as I try to capture what is special about everyday objects as the elements and time work
around them, changing them as they emerge from the darkness by emphasizing repetition, reflection
and documenting the fleeting moments of light.
I am known internationally for my mezzotint work and my work has been accepted into national and
international print shows, both juried and invitational. I am a member of several print societies across
the US and I exhibit regularly in their member exhibitions. My work is included in several large public
collections in the US and Internationally.
