Turn Your Photos Into Fine Art

We call it "Relevant Artwork". Fill your walls with meaningful art!
Give us your photos, we'll make them into personalized, museum quality originals, on canvas or art papers, that will last for generations.
Woodland can create it, print it, frame it, and even hang it.

Here's how we do it...

1) Bring us your photo, - or - hire us to photograph something for you... we can come to your home or office and help you visualize custom art ideas.

2) Next, we'll spend about an hour working up some examples of how it will look.

3) Then, we'll ask you to come in, have a look at what we've done, discuss the approaches, and provide a finished estimate. At this point, if you don't like how it's working, we'll cancel the project at no cost to you.

4) If we continue we'll print it on fine art giclee papers or canvas... and if you want, frame it and even hang it in your home or office.

Turn your photos into archival artwork that will last for generations!

Framed, digital painting - "Boulevard De Grande Case"
"Boulevard De Grande Case"

Here's a good example...
from Cindy's vacation photos.

"Boulevard de Grande Case" - St. Martens

"Boulevard De Grand Case" Digital Painting by Cindy Lou. It's one of Cindy's vacation photos from her trip to St. Martens.  Would you believe it started out as a mistake?  She saw this little building by the side of the road, took the picture and the flash didn't go off, so it ended up looking all yellow and grainy. When she got back home and started looking through her pictures she noticed, even though it was grainy, it was kind of a cool looking image. So she worked with it, increased contrast, enhanced saturation, made it grainier, added violets and purples in the texture and printed it on canvas. Later, we overpainted it with textured acrylic gel... and then framed it with 'Woodland's favorite' frame.

Lots of people like this piece - but it will always have special meaning for Cindy.

We also do custom
Commercial Projects.

Here's part of an image that was used in a series of images we made for the Lodge At Cedar Creek in Wausau, WI. They wanted us to create all of the art for all the rooms, plus the lobby and restaurant of the hotel. They commissioned us to do 'artsy portrayals' of area attractions. So we spent several days doing over 3,000 photos of the most popular natural attractions... Rib Mountain, Dells Of Eau Claire, Nine Mile Forest, Eau Pleine Flowage, and Fern Island. We narrowed it down to a special edition of about a dozen images and printed over 500 pieces for the resort hotel.

This particular piece has also been used in a local real estate office lobby... we converted the image into 3 - 3' by 6' panels on canvas and hung it as a 9' by 6' mural.

Woodland's artists can create your own personalized fine art exhibit of your environment. If you don't like our ideas, we'll cancel the project at no cost to you.

Here's more about "Digital Painting", and how we do it...

What is 'Digital Painting' ?

People often mistakenly think of Digital Painting as 'computer art', or in the case of photography 'doctored photos' that are somehow done by a computer vs. an artist. In reality, it is a new medium that requires a high level of artistic talent and skill. It's a new set of tools, like a new kind of paint or new style of paintbrushes. Just like with watercolors, or oils, Digital Paintings take an artists talent and skill to create beautiful artwork.

It is so new even artists, photographers, and gallery owners have been trying to define how it fits in the world of fine arts. The reason is, it's hard to define something with so many global applications. Never before, in the world of fine arts, has there been a medium that offers so many different creative options for so many different types of artists. Some artists are using it in combination with photography, some are using 3D tools to paint realistic scenes, and some use it for it's natural media painting and drawing tools. Because it covers such a broad range of mediums, the simplest term is "Digital Painting".

What is Woodland's approach?

Similar to the way Andy Warhol integrated silkscreen printmaking with his art... Woodland artists are trying to integrate their art, with fine art giclee printing. For example, often we hand overpaint with traditional mediums. For print media we recommend paper, canvas, inks and laminates with published fade factor ratings by Wilhelm Research. However, we also like to experiment with handmade art papers and even try things like printing over painted canvases.

In
Gary and Cindy's work, most of the time we start with photography and then work with it to bring out a graphic quality. We see the photo as only the first layer of our art. We crop, experiment with color balances, paint with a pressure sensitive tablet to add textures, modify and paint on images. Sometimes we even like to overpaint with traditional mediums.

We'll help you visualize ideas, to fit your taste, that could span from realistic photos to abstract images. We can even do full size murals.
