Woodland launches... 'ArtsForHumanities.com' ~ 4/10/13
The idea was first inspired by Gary's son Jake and how to help with his situation with Multiple Sclerosis and homelessness. Secondly, we thought about all the people who come into Woodland Studios (almost weekly) looking for art donations to support a fundraiser for someone they know. Artists always want to help but it's hard for them to give away as much as they do. So, we thought... why not turn this into a sustainable way of helping people and artists by applying the 'gallery' business model (50/50 split)... only in our case it's artists (50%), friend in need (40%), and ArtsForHumanities.com (10%) for the service. Artists market price their work, wholesale consign it to your friend in need, you buy it, get great gifts, help your friend, and support the arts. What could be better than that!
So on, April 10, 2013... we launched the first 'beta' version of ArtsForHumanities.com featuring Jake's Art Store. Soon we will be adding two more stores to help other people as well. At the moment, we're fortunate to be able to use Jake as our guinea pig to help us learn how to make the service better as we continue to expand to others. Also, Jake is very excited to be part of something that will help make life better for others in need, and support the arts at the same time. We're looking forward to see what we can learn from this 'beta' launch of the first few stores.
We hope the ArtsForHumanities.com idea will catch on and prove to help individuals, family, and friends need... and support the arts at the same time. You get great gifts for people you love while supporting your friends in need.
You win, your friend wins, and even the artists win... it's a win, win, win!
