Check out this video... John Denver singing at a 1971 peace rally!
I was just watching a Vietnam War Stories program on PBS, and one of the soldiers interviewed described it as "just another war started by old men, and fought by young boys". Thinking about this reminded me that...
There are now over 100,000* Dead in Iraq! ( and still counting )
How easily we forget that every day people are dying, families are being destroyed, and children orphaned because of our involvement in their country. These are the 'forgotten dead' who we don't talk about, or think about... but who we all share responsibility for as long as we continue to support it with our tax dollars... perhaps worse, our ambivalent silence.
Think about how different things would be if we were as passionate about peace as we are about our paychecks!

Colorful, whimsical images that will make you smile!
Rena Askey- Rena is self taught artist who pulls whimsical images from her imagination and pairs them with life quotes. She works primarily in watercolor. Her images are very colorful, and the quotes are hand-lettered and incorporated within the images as key part of the artwork. Rena does not sell her original works, however she does sell giclee prints made here at Woodland Studios. Call Woodland at (608) 877-8007, if you are interested in Rena Askey's work and/or would like to arrange for a special showing. Woodland's price is the same as the artist price for all of the art it represents.

Derek Hambly statement about his work... From the 1960s to 2008, the evolution of my work has gone from landscape to abstract to symbolic and is a major search for this ultimate power. I look for elements that will create the most powerful painting ever painted... My work now has a maturity. It is derived strictly from my past work and my own development, and a study of my own creative abilities. I'm now in a place of control over my creativity. Ive worked towards this goal through complexity, and am now finding it through simplicity.
This painting, "Love Life" is one of Gary's favorites.
