Paul Tourdot is a local, born in Madison, Wisconsin, and raised in rural Brooklyn Wisconsin, with his family in the one room school house in which his mother once taught. As a child he was always fascinated with observing his surroundings and trying to recreate whatever he saw on paper. Living in the country gave him lots of time to stick to the basics of life and all that it has to offer.
After High school Paul served in the army overseas in Europe. In Europe you would find Paul traveling the countryside and seeing the old country. If there was a museum, he was there to look around at the art.
After service Paul attended college first for computer programming , then following with graphic design. Paul never quite finding his calling in life, and after years of painting off and on, sometimes for years in between, has finally decided to pick up his brush. Finding happiness in this world was only a canvas away.
Paul is inspired by the French impressionists and portrait artist John Singer Sargent. All of Paul’s work is created by just observing the world on his daily walks and the snapshots, he takes for reference. If you can get up early enough, you can find him out and about.
